Cloud File Access Plug-in
Automate file transfer and processing in the cloud
Cloud file access refers to the ability to access files and data stored in a cloud infrastructure from anywhere. In this process, physical storage on local servers is replaced by external, often scalable cloud storage solutions. Manufacturing companies benefit particularly from this technology because it enables flexible and secure access to important production data, plans and reports in real time. This promotes collaboration, optimizes processes and reduces downtime. Cloud file access also offers increased data security and scalability, which is crucial for efficiency and cost reduction in industry.
These customers rely on the OPC Router
It can be that simple.
Cloud File Access integration via drag and drop
The OPC Router makes file transfer in your system simple and intuitive via drag and drop. The screenshot shows an example of how information is converted from a cloud into the CSV file format and then stored by the Cloud File Access plug-in.
Bringing Industry 4.0 to life with cloud file access
- Achieve more with coupled systems:
File exchange is still the standard for data exchange for some systems. The files can be easily transferred with the OPC Router to the target systems that are often distributed throughout the network. When using Cloud File Access, these can even be located in completely different cloud networks. The automated exchange ensures that these systems work together reliably and in real time. - Industry 4.0 with Cloud File Access:
In addition to pure data transfer between systems, it is also possible to use the OPC Router to transfer data from files into the many other systems that can be accessed via plug-in. If the data is transferred to a database, for example, many other systems also benefit from the information and are then able to control and optimize themselves in the sense of Industry 4.0. - About the OPC Router:
The OPC Router allows you to graphically network your systems. Numerous plug-ins make it a middleware solution for industrial environments. It is characterized by simple configuration, sophisticated monitoring and robustness.
Cloud File Access Plug-in application examples
Process analysis values automatically
Many devices used to analyze raw materials that perform laboratory analyses and tests store their test results in structured text files such as CSV or XML. These files are stored in predefined file folders for retrieval. With Cloud File Access, these files can be efficiently retrieved, read and processed. The results can be seamlessly forwarded to other systems, such as cloud environments, where they are stored in structured tables. This data is thus available centrally and can be queried by different systems. Cloud file access makes it possible to integrate analysis and testing devices into the modern IT infrastructure, thus supporting the digitization and automation of production processes.

Transfer-Objekts
Transfer objects can be used to perform standard file operations on the transferred data, such as reading, writing, and deleting. The data for the file operations can be processed or generated using the standard transfer objects for JSON, XML, or CSV that are included with the OPC Router. Binary data can be passed directly to transfer objects of other plug-ins, for example, to store it in a database.
Read
The transfer object for reading a file is used to read the data either as a string or as a binary data block. After reading, the file can be optionally moved or deleted.
Write
The write transfer object is used to write data to a file. This can also be done as a string or binary. Files are created if they do not already exist and named according to a selectable pattern. Existing files can be appended.
Delete
The Delete transfer object deletes defined files.
Trigger
The Cloud File Access trigger initiates a transfer as soon as a file is added to or changed in the cloud.
Browsing
The OPC Router offers a file and directory selection option in many parts of the configuration for browsing in the network drives. The files to be read or written are selected here.
